This week Dawn challenged everyone to layer a pattern over stamped images. So for my card I stamped flowers and leaves using <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/grans-garden-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI's Gran's Garden stamp set</a>. Over that I stamped using a background stamp from Inkadinkado. The sentiment was embossed using a stamp from <a href="https://www.shop.ginakdesigns.com/product.sc?productId=2511&categoryId=-1" target="_blank">GinaK called Scripty Sayings</a>. I've been on a gold kick lately, so I added some gold washi tape with ribbon and also added some gold Stickles to the stamped red stars. I didn't have a lot to choose from for background stamps and I wasn't sure how this would turn out, but I am happy with the design.</span><br />

I then die cut it using a rectangle die. I also cut out the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-mix-mat-flourishes-die/" target="_blank">PTI Mix & Mat Flourishes die</a> with white card stock. Using the same rectangle die I cut out the interior of my flourish. I added flowers from the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/rosie-posie-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI stamp & die set called Rosie Posie 1 & 2.</a> I added a die cut sentiment.</span><br />

The stamp set I used is from <a href="https://www.tayloredexpressions.com/if-balloons-could-talk-stamp-die-combo.html" target="_blank">Taylored Expressions called "If Balloons Could Talk".</a> This is a super cute set with different facial expressions and sentiments. It also includes the dies. The paper I used is from the <a href="https://www.amazon.com/American-Crafts-Everyday-Paper-Pad/dp/B01D2ADBCS" target="_blank">6x6 American Crafts "Everyday" pad</a>. I added Glossy Accents to my balloons, so the pic has a bit of a glare on the balloons.</span><br />

I embossed the white panel using a stripe embossing folder. Using pink card stock I die cut an oval using the MFT Stitched Ovals die. I adhered my flowers and stamped my sentiment. I used pop dots to add dimension on the oval and some of the flowers, but I didn't get to carried away since I am mailing this to my sister for her birthday later this month.</span><br />

I have examples of very simple designs to more intricate. Here they are.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRh-dQazE4MGT9g1ZF9QNmGLgWj9HY4M9lQT3RHugeyE_C8_Q6krAmDnChyphenhyphenFsOQFN2uXuZVkgxcbpnuKjg2cANa2FicYEl1Y8E-dmQQswRINlU4kbZGLtiarpuIh3k09efVGzv0FNsPAo/s1600/DSC02794.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1212" data-original-width="1600" height="302" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRh-dQazE4MGT9g1ZF9QNmGLgWj9HY4M9lQT3RHugeyE_C8_Q6krAmDnChyphenhyphenFsOQFN2uXuZVkgxcbpnuKjg2cANa2FicYEl1Y8E-dmQQswRINlU4kbZGLtiarpuIh3k09efVGzv0FNsPAo/s400/DSC02794.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This design was the most intricate. I die cut the butterflies on white card stock and adhered it to a black piece of card stock. Using the die cut with black card stock I adhered it in the opening on the white piece. Then I die cut a piece of pink & blue card stock and using my pik stick adhered the tiny pieces into the wings of the butterfly. Doing it this way the card design has a smooth surface. It's putzy, but I love the look.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimyxyyvspQRlRANjNhalF52rP6DlBga7UOy2hOgCk3D-rel_Yql68YAtTOBa-THT0Y6D0AQ-AY_bY8IBJ7KA1rKedSFZMtNGAQUmr1W58OjwCAEA3xxU1papKAJYly8F8Yvn1Rv40JlLE/s1600/DSC02798.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1390" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimyxyyvspQRlRANjNhalF52rP6DlBga7UOy2hOgCk3D-rel_Yql68YAtTOBa-THT0Y6D0AQ-AY_bY8IBJ7KA1rKedSFZMtNGAQUmr1W58OjwCAEA3xxU1papKAJYly8F8Yvn1Rv40JlLE/s400/DSC02798.jpg" width="346" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I did the same thing here only the die cut was a lot simpler.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6fvkKKdz3S_vjzmpu3Hq0h4Z1GKA_LwLIjnT6SNSyOVA-sN3jqs-mIjlGgipDFn2CtaxpDwOw3enmjTh6XO95CPt9IxzwKSEh9RO8EJUsGlfE1e93wkd4piLsuVUKD-mJMBzWTOfOEd4/s1600/DSC02801.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1443" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6fvkKKdz3S_vjzmpu3Hq0h4Z1GKA_LwLIjnT6SNSyOVA-sN3jqs-mIjlGgipDFn2CtaxpDwOw3enmjTh6XO95CPt9IxzwKSEh9RO8EJUsGlfE1e93wkd4piLsuVUKD-mJMBzWTOfOEd4/s400/DSC02801.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For this one I just inlaid the white die cut in the die cut opening done on the black card stock. Very simple and you actually get two cards with the reverse color combo.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Thanks for stopping by...</span></div>

The inspiration for my card comes from a card done by <a href="http://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Dawn McVey</a>. As soon as I saw this card I was drawn to the simple, but lovely design. Here is the card Dawn created using the new <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/sunflower-harvest-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI Sunflower Harvest stamp set.</a></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilfyTnNjx9JlATB51leW9x0qcCN4KhjnKZZ30Q7Zh-nntfCd8feqHTUhgaMaKagB5wWaXrh4VSfPMEnHD9j5qmYb1XdZfGoYbpiLZaAC7skZmZc0ZAWNQFF6nLByymCJQpFcfT-QQXkXI/s1600/6a00e54ef2e299883301bb09b940e8970d-500wi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="637" data-original-width="500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilfyTnNjx9JlATB51leW9x0qcCN4KhjnKZZ30Q7Zh-nntfCd8feqHTUhgaMaKagB5wWaXrh4VSfPMEnHD9j5qmYb1XdZfGoYbpiLZaAC7skZmZc0ZAWNQFF6nLByymCJQpFcfT-QQXkXI/s320/6a00e54ef2e299883301bb09b940e8970d-500wi.jpg" width="251" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">For my card I used the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/humming-along-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Papertrey Ink Humming Along stamps & dies</a> for the flowers. The sentiment is from the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/beautiful-berries-summer-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI set Beautiful Berries</a> and I used the <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-to-the-point-edgers-die/" target="_blank">To The Point Edgers dies</a> to create the point. The paper was actually some old paper I had from Stampin Up. It was kraft colored with the clear embossed flourishes. I used Distress Ink with a dauber to darken it up and bring out the embossing. Here is my card.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I layered two die cuts - slightly off centered to give it a decoupage look. I fussy cut out just the center flower on a third die cut to finish it off. Thanks for stopping by...</span></div>

For today's card I pulled out the <a href="https://www.artimpressions.com/shop/aics32-hot-java-mama/" target="_blank">Hot Java Mama clear set from Art Impressions.</a> The thing I like about the AI clear stamps is that they ink up nicely right out of the package. I've used other stamps that the ink bubbles up on until the stamps have been used multiple times. My stamped image today was the first time I used it and I only had to stamp it once and I was ready to color. The sentiment is also from the same set. All the papers were from the <a href="http://www.snapclicksupply.com/serendipity-shine-on-pattern-paper-pack-2/" target="_blank">Basic Grey 6x6 pack Serendipity</a>. I also paper pieced the robe and added some Liquid Black Enamel Accents. I am entering this card in the <a href="http://artimpressionsstamps.blogspot.com/2017/06/challenge-210-lets-distress-week-2.html" target="_blank">Art Impressions Blog Challenge - Let's Distress,</a> so I used Antique Linen Distress Ink around my stamped image and sentiment for the challenge. </span><br />

So the challenge is to <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/04/create-along-with-us-april-2017.html" target="_blank">Create Along With The Design Team this week at Papertrey Ink.</a> For my inspiration I used a card by Dawn McVey that uses the new Mix & Mat Scallops die. Here is Dawn's card - I love this card!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54ef2e299883301b8d275a598970c-500wi" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/.a/6a00e54ef2e299883301b8d275a598970c-500wi" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The card below is my take on Dawn's beautiful card.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG_2sEJ-EtbRkTCzqf4QXOdbPUS1uVzpLMwmNf0T4izXYa8QYkhLq50uFMO9cnkkA2_G9kSIp1RTtwD5XmHMVdwyshPMEt8gTIQWPop7AqRb-EqWvIlKcMmxiSCsUgZ79IK4eKh5bpZAY/s1600/DSC02779.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG_2sEJ-EtbRkTCzqf4QXOdbPUS1uVzpLMwmNf0T4izXYa8QYkhLq50uFMO9cnkkA2_G9kSIp1RTtwD5XmHMVdwyshPMEt8gTIQWPop7AqRb-EqWvIlKcMmxiSCsUgZ79IK4eKh5bpZAY/s400/DSC02779.jpg" width="343" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">First I started off with a white piece of card stock and die cut the holes using the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-mix-mat-flourishes-die/" target="_blank">PTI Mix & Mat Flourishes die.</a> Since I didn't have anything like the Mix & Mat Scallop die that Dawn used I created the look by die cutting an oval in the same card stock and also cutting two die cuts using the <a href="https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/Memory-Box-WILDFLOWER-CORNER-Craft-Die-98895-98895MB" target="_blank">Wildflower Corner die from Memory Box</a>. Then I glued them to the back of the oval. I added a fishtail strip with the birthday sentiment from the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/the-vault-just-the-ticket-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI set Just the Ticket.</a> The flowers are from the PTI stamps and dies <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/rosie-posie-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Rosie Posie</a> & <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/rosie-posie-step-2-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Rosie Posie two</a>. I adhered that to a white card base with foam squares.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am entering this card in the following challenges:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/04/create-along-with-us-april-2017.html" target="_blank">Papertrey Ink - Create Along With Us</a></span></div>

Ashley has a video showing her tips and tricks for making curved sentiments from straight ones. For my curved sentiment I used a sentiment from the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/wonderful-words-birthday-mini-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI set Wonderful Words: Birthdays</a>. I also used the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-wonderful-words-birthday-die/" target="_blank">coordinating die for the "birthday" die cut</a>. The cake was die cut and stamped using the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/invitation-basics-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI Invitation Basics stamps & dies.</a> I went with neutral colors, so I could use it for either a male or female card.</span><br />

So I try to make a few just to have on hand. Today's card is just that a card with more of a male theme. The stamped image is from <a href="https://www.artimpressions.com/shop/harv-l1247/" target="_blank">Art Impressions called Harv</a> and the sentiment was one of those $1 stamps they have in the bins at Michael's. It's a simple card, but I think it works.</span><br />

I think this technique gives your card a little something than the usual. For my sentiment <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-wonderful-words-birthday-die/" target="_blank">I used the stamps & die from Wonderful Words: Birthday</a>. For my top layer I used gold mylar tape on some white card stock and then die cut it out just for a little pop! The balloons are from the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/scene-it-celebration-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI stamp set Scene It: Celebration.</a> I used a tip I saw on Betsy's blog applying the ink to the balloons using a sponge dauber. My card I made for the challenge that focused on stitching was not one of my favorites. I didn't care for the dark colors and the sentiment was just lost in all the designs. So for my redo I changed the orientation, I brightened up the colors and moved my sentiment off my focal point. Here is my original card that I wasn't real happy with.</span><br />

For <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/03/march-2017-release-day-4.html" target="_blank">release day 4 at Papertrey Ink</a> the challenge is to create a birdhouse using the template provided. For my birdhouse I printed the template on white card stock, since that was the only kind I could get to go through my printer. I gave it a red roof with a cedar shake look. The leaves are from the Papertrey Ink stamps & dies called <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/turning-a-new-leaf-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Turning A New Leaf</a>. The flowers are from the PTI set <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/forget-me-not-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Forget-Me-Not</a> and the bird is from <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/winter-woods-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Winter Woods</a>. This was a very fun challenge.</span><br />

I again pulled out my Papertrey Ink stamp set called <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/tulip-time-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Tulip Time</a>. I stamped the single bloom on white card stock. Using the Papertrey Ink stamp set <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/fancy-flourishes-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Fancy Flourishes</a> I embossed them on a piece of white card stock and using a dauber rubbed ink over the flourishes for my background. The birthday sentiment is from <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/the-vault-just-the-ticket-stamp-set/" target="_blank">Just the Ticket</a>. Here is my card. </span><br />

For my card I used the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-circle-scribbles-die-collection-set-of-3/" target="_blank">Papertrey Ink die cut Circle Scribbles</a>. I used the smallest one of the set and cut out different colors of scrap card stock and mounted them on a piece of black card stock to give it some pop. The sentiment is from the <a href="https://www.papertreyink.com/stamps/keep-it-simple-birthday-ii-mini-stamp-set/" target="_blank">PTI set Keep It Simple - Birthday II</a>.
