Dutch Dare Challenge - Anything But A Card!

Well, today at the Dutch Dare Card Challenge the design team's challenge was to come up with "Anything But A Card".  Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps and as you can guess I love the really cute images they have.  I picked "Rottweiler Puppy - Hello" to add as a tag to my treat box.  My niece's 4 month old pup broke his back leg, so he is running around with a big cast.  It doesn't seem to bother him much, but we are going to send him a treat box filled with doggie bones.

I colored the image with my Copics and punched him out using Stampin' Up Circle & Scallop Circle punches.

For the back of the tag I stamped "Woof" as my sentiment.

The box was made using the Stampin' Up "Mini Milk Carton Die" using The Paper Studio "Spoiled Rotten" paper. There are lots of videos on You Tube, but the best video I have seen is by Stampin' Up demonstrator Dawn Olchefske of Dostamping.

Here is Dawn's video:

I hope you can join us this week.  I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Bugaboo "Ava Fairy" Card

For today's card I pulled out another one of my new images from Bugaboo called "Ava Fairy".  These images are really quick to color and I think they are really sweet.  The paper is from Basic Gray "Out of Print" and the clouds were made with the Die-namics Cloud Trio.  It's hard to probably see on the photo, but I ran the blue panel with the pattern paper through my Cuttlebug "Swiss Dot" folder.  I wanted to give it a little texture, but the paper is rather busy, so it is really hard to see.  I also added some Stickles for a little sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by...

Where has my MOJO gone lately???

Have you ever had a time where you just can't seem to find your card making MOJO?  I seem to be in a slump as of late, since I broke my wrist.  I'm have managed to make a few cards, but I guess I'm just not feeling it - do you know what I mean?  So, when your MOJO is just not working what do you do?  Well, for me I went out and ordered more stamps and dies.    I know I have enough already, but who can resist with all the monthly release parties at the different online stamp companies.  Second, I cleaned my work space.  Let's face it...I am a messy stamper.  Space is limited and that just makes it hard to put stuff.  Next, I just decided to make a card for me that is going someplace special.  That is my mother - Mother's Day is just around the corner, so I put together this card using a sweet image from Bugaboo Stamps called "Ava Flower Patch".  She is colored in with my copics and cut out using my Spellbinder large Octagon & Octagon Scallop dies.  The flowers are also a Spellbinder die called Rose Creations and the paper is from Recollections - Mosaic Memories.  I had just finished the inside of my card and noticed that I had black ink on the corner of my image.  So, I added a couple more flowers in the upper left corner as a cover up.  The inside has a simple "Love You" sentiment with some small hearts.  The card has a lot going on, but I think my mom will like it.

Would love to hear your thoughts on getting your MOJO going again.
Until next time...

Card for MFT Wednesday Stamp Club & Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Hope everyone had a terrific holiday and didn't eat to much chocolate.  We celebrated the holidays & a couple birthdays at my brother's house this year.  I didn't buy any chocolate, but of course we came back with a bag full.  For today's card I'm using the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch.  For more info you can check out Splitcoast Stampers.  I haven't entered this challenge in quite a while and I wanted to use the Pure Innocence stamp "Birthday Girl".  Since it is a birthday card I am also entering in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week.  The theme is birthdays, since they are celebrating their 4th birthday.  They are giving away three prizes this week in celebration.  Top prize is $100 at the Simon Says Stamp store.  My fingers are crossed!!!  Here is the sketch.

 And my card...

I stamped the image and colored her with my copics.  I paper pieced the dress and fussy cut the image.  The papers were a freebie from one of the magazines I subscribe to.  The doily I found in the cake decorating section at Michael's along with the pearls.  The bow was made using the Die-namics Dainty Bows.  The balloon has a layer of Glossy Accents.  I didn't add a sentiment, since I wasn't quite sure how to make it work with the sketch.
Thanks for looking...

Dutch Dare Challenge #211 - Birthday Fun

Today's card is for the Dutch Dare Challenge #211 - Birthday Fun.  Our great sponsor this week is Doodle Pantry.  They have some really super sweet designs to work with, so check them out if you can.  For my card I am using the image and sentiment from "Birthday Birdie".  I wanted to make something bright and fun this time, so I decided to go with yellows and reds for my color scheme.  My image is colored with my copics and for sparkle I used a silver gel pen for the dots on his party hat and tassel.  I used my Marvy "Snow Marker" for the frosting to give it some dimension and Glossy Accents on the candle.  I then went back and added some Ice Stickles for some sparkle.  The rhinestones are from Michaels and the sentiment was cut using my Fishtail Die-namics.  The paper was Basic Grey "Shine On".

Hope you can join us this week for some Birthday Fun!

Dutch Dare Challenge #209 - Shaped Cards

Well, I'm back...
I still have my brace on for another week and many weeks of rehab in front of me.  I am trying to use my left hand as much as I can.  The more I use it the quicker I will regain my mobility.  You just have to tolerate the pain and use a sticky tool to pick up small objects, since my fingers still don't grasp well.  With that in mind I wanted to join the design team this week at the Dutch Dare Challenge.  The challenge to make a shaped card - basically something other than a rectangle.  Our sponsor this week is Sassy Studios Designs.  The image I selected was "Madam Honey".  Hope you can join us this week!

For this card I took a piece of white card stock - folded it in half.  I positioned my largest circle die just slightly above the fold to create a round card.  Using the same die I cut out a piece of pattered paper (DCWV The Once Upon Time) and attached it to the front of the card face.  I then took a piece of SU Wild Wasbi paper, ran it though my big shot with my largest Nestabilities "Beaded Circle" die. I punched out several small circles using SU Brushed Gold card stock and added them to the beaded part of the die cut.  I attached this to the back of the white card.  I finished by adding my image that was colored with my copics.  The sentiment was computer generated and die cut using my Die-namic Fishtail Flags.  I used a gold gel pen and Stickles to accent the image and Glossy Accents on her crystal ball.  If this made absolutely no sense I have a pic to show what I'm talking about.  It's a little blurry since I took it it one handed.

At this point I will try to post as much as I can.  This card was whole day project with some help from my husband.  So until next time....

Why I Have Been Gone For A While...

To anyone following my blog you may have noticed I haven't been posting as much as I normally do.  Well last week I slipped on the ice and ended up in the emergency room at the local hospital.  I ended up with a compound fracture to my left wrist.  The bone on the right side of my wrist broke and pierced though the skin on the left side of my wrist.  I had surgery that night after sitting in the ER for 6 hours.  They inserted a Y shaped plate with 8 screws to put the bone back in place.  Because the bone had broke through the skin I sayed overnight for several rounds of antibiotics, so I won't end up with an infection.  They put it in a splint and because of the plate & screws holding everything in place I don't need a cast.  I started rehab yesterday and am wearing a soft brace.  You would think you would just be able to go about your business, but the fingers and wrist just don't want to cooporate.  It is really painful to move them, so I am hoping I will be back in the swing of things soon.  I really miss making cards.  Kelly has generously given me time off from the Dutch Dare Design Team, but I still checkout all the cards submitted and comment on the wonderful entries.  I hope I will be posting cards and entering challenges real soon.
Until then....
